Community organization or Community Based Organization refers to organization aimed at making desired improvements to a community's social health, well-being, and overall functioning. Community organization occurs in geographically, psychosocially, culturally, spiritually, and digitally bounded communities.

African American Intellectual History Society
The African American Intellectual History Society (AAIHS) is an independent scholarly organization that aims to foster dialogue about researching, writing, and teaching black thought and culture.
American Studies Association
Association for the Study of the African American Life and History
Founders of Black History Month, ASALH promotes, researches, preserves, interpret and disseminates information about Black life, history and culture to the global community.
Association of Black Women Historians
The ABWH constitution outlines four organizational goals: to establish a network among the membership; to promote Black women in the profession; to disseminate information about opportunities in the field; and to make suggestions concerning research topics and repositories.

National Action Network
National Action Network is one of the leading civil rights organizations in the Nation with chapters throughout the entire United States.
