The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) is a free, online collaborative encyclopedia. The goal of the EoL is to compile and make available over the Internet as much information as possible about the world’s species of plants, animals and microorganisms.
Science.gov searches over 60 databases and over 2,200 scientific websites to provide users with access to more than 200 million pages of authoritative federal science information including research and development results.
This site contains a variety of educational and supporting materials for students and teachers of microbiology. You will find information about microorganisms, extremophiles and extreme habitats, as well as information about the ecology, diversity and evolution of micro-organisms for students, K-12 teachers, university faculty, and the general public.
The Virtual Cell Animation Collection is part of North Dakota State University's Molecular and Cellular Biology Education Project. It contains animations which can be used as primary or reference resources.
