Personal Papers, Business and Organizational Records

Special Collections has manuscript collections that cover Northeastern California. The strengths of the collection includes information on mining, lumber, water, social organizations, Chico and Butte County history. Many of the finding aids are found on the Online Archive of California . 

Types of materials found in the collection include: correspondence, diaries,  scrapbooks, photographs, research files, maps, congressional papers, business records, and organizational records.

Using Primary Sources

Manuscripts are a type of primary source.

Primary source, n. Material that contains firsthand accounts of events and that was
created contemporaneous to those events or later recalled by an eyewitness.
