Step By Step

Do you have a call number for a SuDoc?  If you are looking for a Government Document in print, the call number is needed.  Go to http://opac.csuchico.edu/ to search for Government Documents.

  1. Write down the entire call number.  For example: Y 4.F 76/1:110-183
  2. Go to the U.S. Government Documents Section on the 4th Floor 
  3. On the end of the stacks (rows) there are bold letters idenitfying the first call number of the books on that stack.
  4. The smaller plackard identifies the specific call number range in that stack.

SuDocs is a system of classification for Government Documents which incoporates the document's author (agency) and sub-unites using letters, numbers, periods, slashes and dashes.
