Start Your Research in the Library - ENGL 130 - Academic Writing

Where should you start your research? At the library of course! Meriam Library has a wealth of resources. Most of these resources are not freely available through Google. In fact the library pays quite a bit of money for reliable, current, and accessible scholarly information in the form of articles, books, multimedia, etc.

Explores a single hot issue in the news in depth each week. Covers topics in health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology and the economy.

Encyclopedias and More
Online encyclopedias are a good place to start for general background. They often will lead you to further helpful information.
Research Guides by Subject
For further help try using subject or discipline specific research guides. For example there are citation guides, more English guides, and even course guides.
